The Literary Voyeur: Intimations by Zadie Smith

Presenting The Literary Voyeur: Intimations by Zadie Smith. Reviewed by The Literary Voyeur for In the Stacks.

Hello. Welcome to In the Stacks. My name is Megan. Today I am going to tell you about Zadie Smith's new collection of essays, Intimations. In these six essays,  Zadie Smith offers her observations of life during the early days of the lockdown. Setting her keen eye on the individuals she encounters on a daily basis, Smith brings these lives into focus against the backdrop of a world grappling with both COVID and the unrelenting virus of hate. In a time of social isolation, Intimations reminds us that we are still here and if we put down our phones long enough to take a look around, we may notice each other, not simply as masked strangers, but as fellow participants in this singular moment in time. I highly recommend Intimations. It's incredibly well written, incredibly observant, and a real treasure to have at this time. Thanks for watching.
